What’s New for Embedded Cluster

Added preflight check to prevent installing on XFS filesystems with [.inline]d_type[.inline] disabled (Embedded Cluster 2.7.1). Embedded Cluster 2.7.1 adds a new preflight check that blocks users from installing on XFS filesystems with [.inline]ftype=0[.inline] ([.inline]d_type[.inline] disabled), which are incompatible with the container runtime.

What’s New for Vendor Portal

(Beta) Offer self-service licenses through the Enterprise Portal. Vendors can now allow companies to sign up for a trial or community licenses through an Enterprise Portal sign-up URL. When this Beta feature is enabled, vendors can define the default settings for licenses created with self-service sign-ups, including the default channel, the expiration date, the supported installation types, and more. After self-service users sign up & verify their email to access the Enterprise Portal for the first time, a customer record is created in the Vendor Portal. The self-service license feature is Beta. Reach out to your account rep to get access. Demo

Helm installation instructions in the Vendor Portal now include [.inline]--version[.inline]. The Helm install instructions available in the Vendor Portal now show the [.inline]--version flag[.inline] with the [.inline]helm install[.inline] command. This allows users to install a specific chart version, rather than always installing the latest version of the chart.

“Invite user” modal pops up after enabling the Enterprise Portal for a customer. After vendors enable the Enterprise Portal for a customer for the first time, the Vendor Portal automatically displays the Invite user modal. This makes it easier for vendors to create the first user account for the Enterprise Portal and then log in.

What’s New for Documentation

How to set up your environment. A new docs page in the Get Started section explains how to set up your local workstation to work with the Replicated platform. It includes steps on how to install foundational tools like kubectl and helm, as well as Replicated-specific tools like the Replicated CLI and the troubleshoot plugins. Docs.

New Enterprise Portal diagram. A new diagram shows how end customers can use the Enterprise Portal to access release assets and installation instructions, as well as upload support bundles. Docs.

How to configure the [.inline]builder[.inline] key to support Helm air gap installations. The docs are updated to explain how to configure the HelmChart v2 custom resource [.inline]builder[.inline] key to ensure that the Enterprise Portal can generate accurate and complete Helm air gap installation instructions. Docs.

Added description of Unix accounts created for Embedded Cluster installs. The docs now include information about the purpose of each of the Unix accounts that are created for internal Kubernetes components during Embedded Cluster installations. Docs.
